ASFA rings in spooky season with dress-up week and annual Fall Carnival

The Fall Carnival is a longtime tradition here at ASFA, featuring many inflatables, booths, and other activities scattered throughout the school. With a marriage booth, karaoke room, and breakout rooms, the school’s student council has organized a fun time for all. While carnival is highly engaging, it can get very confusing. The currency is tickets, not dollars, and with the event taking place across the entire school, it is easy to miss certain booths.

However, with the build-up to the carnival, this process will make more sense. This week, Student Council will be selling tickets for 25 cents in the cafeteria. These tickets are used as currency within the Fall Carnival and will allow you to engage in the booths around the school. Student Council is usually located near the windows facing the courtyard and will be there for Homerooms A and B. It is often recommended to buy a minimum of 10 tickets with the average price per booth being 2 tickets.

During this same week, students will be dressing up in accordance with the dress-up days. Today is Switch Day. A longstanding ASFA tradition, students will switch outfits/styles with one another. This allows students to be in another person's shoes for one day, either literally or figuratively.

Tuesday will be Barbie vs. Oppenheimer. Following the craze of the summer, ASFA students will engage with the year’s hottest debate, which movie was better? Students will either pink out or dress as 1940s scientists looking to discover the wonder of the atomic bomb.

Wednesday will be Homecoming Day. Students will be dressing up in the traditional high school stereotypes such as cheerleaders, nerds, football players, and more. While ASFA is a very non-traditional high school, this dress-up day will bring a sense of the traditional experience to ASFA.

Thursday will be the Eras day. Eras falls under both the different decades as well as the Taylor Swift eras. Whether you’re a Swiftie or someone looking to go back to the groovy times, Thursday will be the day for you to show that to the school.

Friday concludes the week with a fall costume contest. Students will do a model walk across the DJD stage and a panel of judges will vote on 3 categories: best costume, best group costume, and most creative costume. This will be followed by a small prize for each of the winners. This will be held prior to the fall carnival.

Following this costume contest, students will spread across the school to celebrate Halloween through the various engaging booths and games across campus. With inflatables, competitions, and games, the fall carnival will be a fun time for students to hang out with friends and have fun engaging in Student Council activities.
