Not Just Writing: The Multimedia Aspect of CW

Kennedi Parker

Creative writers in Ms. Rinke-Hammer’s 8th period Poetry Workshop recently experimented with the forms that their writing could take with a special 3-D poetry assignment, in which they transformed their poetry into something tangible. From sculptures to collages to paintings, the writers discovered new ways to express their creative ideas in ways further than just the page. Afterwards, they presented their work, and many of the projects were displayed around Ms. Rinke-Hammer’s classroom. Some of them are displayed above.

Despite what people may initially think about the department, Creative Writing is no stranger to the multimedia aspects of the art form. Some students are even completing multimedia projects for their juries in CW. When it comes to creating their art, it is more than just writing for many creative writers.
