PTSO plans masquerade dance for Friday

We are swimming in the deep end of the holiday of scares, but what's Halloween without a spooky celebration?

The PTSO's ASFA Moonlight Masquerade Dance is coming up this Friday. And to prepare, The Star interviewed Mrs. Kim Strickland, director of Student Support Services, to get some insight on how this party is going to go down.

The party starts at 7 p.m. on Friday in the ASFA cafeteria, with a DJ, photo booth, and “all kinds of fun activities and prizes for kids to win,” as Mrs. Strickland says.

Don't know where to buy tickets? Don't worry! Check out the dance posters posted on bulletin boards all over the school for a QR code that will take you to a site where you can pay for your tickets. Mrs. Strickland also says that the masquerade or costume theme is optional, "so it's not like if you don't have a mask or you don't have a costume you can't get access to the dance.”

She also encourages students to ensure their Friday evening costumes are in compliance with the school dress code, suggesting students check the ASFA student handbook. "I think there are some specific things in regards to costuming that you can and cannot do. I would just refer to that if there are any questions,” Mrs. Strickland says.

In general, Mrs. Strickland says, just enjoying yourself at the party is the most important thing. She says that the PTSO works hard to put these together for the students so that “[students have] more opportunities to just be kids and have fun, and take off the young professional hat... We're just really excited to provide these types of opportunities for kids to just have fun together.”

The dance is a fun event for all students to enjoy, so invite your friends and get ready to have a good time.
