Earlier this semester, Native American hoop dancer, storyteller, and filmmaker Eric Hernandez visited ASFA for a week-long residency. It was a busy visit that's still resonating for those who worked with him. Eric's primary focus was to work closely with students and faculty in the Dance department, but he also performed for the entire school community at an assembly in the DJD; met with ASFA Student Council leadership and The Star staff to discuss the student-led initiative to develop a land acknowledgment for the school; conducted a master class for students in the Theatre Arts department’s musical theatre track; and, with Pyet DeSpain, led a Media Arts Lunch-and-Learn conversation about the role of media arts and social media in the entrepreneurial aspects of their creative careers. We thank Eric and Pyet for their tremendous generosity of spirit. Our week with them inspired us all!
